Karl Robinson says his team deserved to be booed at full-time after they lost 2-0 to Shrewsbury.

Second-half goals from Alex Rodman and Omar Beckles leaves the Addicks with just one win in five games.

Despite a bumper Valley attendance of 17,581, Charlton failed to deliver.

Robinson told News Shopper: “Yeah, we 100 per cent deserved to be [booed], We stand here and get the plaudits when we win, so we can’t blank ourselves out from the negativity when we lose.

“We deserve the criticism that’s going to come our way. We have to be big and brave and take it on the chin.

“We didn't stick to a game plan. Every single player lost their one v one duels.

“The game plan was not to play our style today, we wanted to be more aggressive in playing forward. They're a very high pressing team, that's what they thrive off. They leave massive gaps behind them, massive gaps, so why get caught in a zone where they can pick you off?

“For some unknown reason, we thought we were better than what we were, we tried to overplay. We didn't ask the players to play sideways or backwards, they were warned no backward or sideway passes.

“All you're doing is encouraging their press. When we went sideways or back, they pushed up by 20 yards. I’m sitting here, we were nowhere near good enough and I know the exact reason why, they didn't do what we asked them to do.

“I wouldn't say they were over confident, because they're talented, they thought their talent would override their energy levels and their honesty. It doesn’t. You need to match that to win any game.”
