Former Arsenal defender Bacary Sagna has spoken out about transfer interest from Crystal Palace and West Ham.

Both clubs were keen to sign Sagna, who was a free agent after leaving Manchester City last summer.

However, the former France international claims the two Premier League sides put a halt to talks over a return to London.

Sagna, who signed a short-term deal with Serie A strugglers Benevento earlier this month, said: “I had been in contact with West Ham and Crystal Palace since March 2017.

“In my mind, I wanted to go home, back to London (where Sagna played for Arsenal).

“But overnight, they cut off contact without explanation.”
