Joe Aribo believes competition for places will boost Charlton’s promotion hopes.

Chris Solly and Tariqe Fosu made their injury comebacks in the win over Walsall on Saturday, while Jake Forster-Caskey was fit enough for the bench.

Jason Pearce and Patrick Bauer could return to first-team training tomorrow to give boss Karl Robinson even more options ahead of the Blackpool trip.

Aribo, who opened the scoring against Walsall, said: “We’ll have the manager thinking ‘who am I going to play?’

“So it’s always good when everyone is fit and there are a lot of numbers for the gaffer to pick from.

“When Tariqe was injured, we went through a rough patch and had lots of injuries. We had a small group so it’s a big boost to see everyone coming back now.

“There’s good competition in the squad. You have to try to play your best and leave your mark on the pitch.”

Aribo, who notched his fourth goal of the season on the weekend, has been one of Charlton’s most consistent performers since December.

The midfielder had to bide his time for a starting place due to the form of Ahmed Kashi and Forster-Caskey.

But he took his first-team chance over the Christmas period to nail down a regular starting berth.

Aribo, 21, added: “I feel like I have to take every game as it comes.

“I had to be patient and wait for my chance. Now that I've got it, I want to take it every game.

“I’m feeling very good and confident. I feel like I can go out there and score goals.

“The gaffer said I needed to add goals to my game and Bow [Charlton assistant Lee Bowyer] is helping me. I just have to keep making runs into the box and take my chance.”
