Neil Harris wants Millwall to reach 40 points as soon as possible.

The Lions have accumulated 31 points in 27 games and sit in 16th place.

Den boss Harris said: “I don’t look too much on what’s ahead of us because we've shown our capabilities in this division.

“We’re a team looking to get a certain amount of points as soon as possible. You only know that certain amount with 10 games to go.

“But our next target is to get to 40 points as quickly as possible.

“You always look over your shoulder to see what the teams around you are doing. What I do know is that behind us there are some good teams, big clubs with the ability to go and spend in January.

“But they also already have some good players capable of winning games. We have to make sure we keep amassing points to keep those teams below us.

“There are some good teams below us - Sheffield Wednesday, Hull, Reading, Sunderland and Birmingham - they wouldn't have envisaged themselves being below Millwall.

“If we keep putting in our performances and stick to our standards then we’ll keep amassing points.

“We've had a fantastic home record this season - I think it’s in the top six. But we’ve got to make sure we turn our performances on the road into points.”

Millwall, who are still searching for their first away win of the campaign, travel to arch rivals Leeds on Saturday.
