Millwall ended 2017 with a bang to maintain their unbeaten home record this season as they won 1-0 to defeat cross-city rivals QPR.

Lions captain Steve Morison finally got off the mark after he met a cross into the box by Jed Wallace, but there could have been more goals in a tight game.

The visiting Hoops, under former Milwall boss Ian Holloway, had chances to equalise – and take the lead – but could not find the net in the end.

Here’s how News Shopper rated Millwall’s players…

Jordan Archer – 7 – Had his hands full (pun intended) in a tough game. Made some excellent stops at close range and avoided a clanger after spilling the ball.

Mahlon Romeo – 6 – Made a big run in the first half from deep shortly before the opener. Held his own at the back on most occasions, only got beat once or twice.

Shaun Hutchinson – 7 – Another solid performance, as expected, from him. Met headers with conviction and intercepted well.

Jake Cooper – 7 – Had a scary moment in the first half when a header wasn’t cleared far enough, but had other good moments as well. Solid.

James Meredith – 6 – Brought comfort to the back with QPR’s attackers lurking forward, couple important interceptions as well.

Jed Wallace – 8 – An effective performance, even though not everything went his way. Great assist for the opener, made a difference at both ends.

Ryan Tunnicliffe – 6 – Similar to Saville – had his moments but ultimately it was not one for the memory books. Struggled a little against QPR’s midfield.

George Saville – 6 – Had a couple chances in the first half after reacting to rebounds, but came unstuck. Should have done more with that late second half chance on 82 mins.

Aiden O’Brien – 6 – Shots on goal were denied well by Alex Smithies and some of his crosses were not the best. First half was more eventful than second before substitution.

Steve Morison – 8 – Finally got off the mark for the season when Millwall needed him most. Underwhelming first half but much improved after the break

Lee Gregory – 7 – Deserved a goal but it was not to be. Slipped in the penalty box when Millwall were on top, but otherwise worked extremely hard as per.
