Neil Harris believes Millwall defender Jake Cooper should be scoring 10 goals a season.

Cooper headed in the Lions’ equaliser in the 2-2 draw with Wolves on Boxing Day.

It was the former Reading man’s second goal of the campaign and Harris wants him to copy Bristol City star Aden Flint’s scoring traits. The centre-half has netted 35 times since joining the Robins in 2013.

Den boss Harris told News Shopper: “It’s not just being 6ft 4ins, you’ve got to play like you’re 6ft 4ins and Jake does. He should be heading every ball in both boxes.

“It’s fine being that big but you’ve got to attack the ball and he does that properly. Jake will probably be the first to admit he should be sitting in the dressing room with the match ball.

“He had three great chances [against Wolves] and scored one. It’s two goals he’s got this year.

“Jake Cooper should be scoring six, eight, 10 goals a season. Aden Flint has set the benchmark for centre-halves scoring goals and Coops should be right on his coattail.”
