Karl Robinson has admitted contact with Roland Duchatelet is minimal - but is thankful to the board for their support.

The Liverpudlian says he hasn't spoken to the unpopular Charlton owner since pre-season.

Duchatelet, 71, sold network club Sint-Truiden on Wednesday, something Robinson was unaware of.

The Belgian tycoon has been slammed by supporters for his transfer strategy, which saw inexperienced players replace established first-teamers.

But Charlton recruited well over the summer, bringing in experienced League One players and it is paying dividends - the Addicks are third with two games in hand.

“I didn't even know [about the Sint-Truiden sale] - I swear to you I didn't even know,” said Charlton manager Robinson.

“Listen, inside the gate at Sparrows Lane and inside the Valley - that’s my job. I don't like going upstairs.

“The contact [between myself and the owner] has been minimal. I’ve been open with everyone over that. We just do our job and hopefully we do people proud.

“I’ve not spoken to him since pre-season. I talk to Katrien Meire and the board - they know what we need to achieve and what we need to do. We work closely with them.

“They've been very supportive - everything we’ve asked for we've been given.

“So I don't have any excuses and I’ve not used any.”
