Charlton boss Karl Robinson believes Ezri Konsa will leave the club in January.

Arsenal and Everton are interested in signing Konsa, who has become a first-team regular at the Valley.

The Charlton academy graduate, 20, made his senior breakthrough last season, and Robinson revealed the Addicks rejected bids for the defender in the summer.

The Liverpudlian was in a similar position at MK Dons, who like Charlton, were gunning for League One promotion, and sold Dele Alli to Tottenham in January 2015. But the England superstar was loaned back to the Dons as part of the deal and helped them into the Championship.

“My gut feeling is that he [Konsa] will go in January,” said Robinson at a fans’ meeting on Monday.

“If I was him I’d be looking to go in January but we should look for £5m minimum. Maybe we could try for a loan back but the player has to want that.”

Charlton need to bolster their attacking options in the upcoming transfer window.

Josh Magennis is the only senior striker contracted to the club, with Joe Dodoo set to return to Rangers when his loan expires.

Robinson says the Addicks were looking at young Arsenal forward Eddie Nketiah earlier this year.

“What happens in January will depend a lot on what happens with Ezri Konsa,” added Robinson. “It is like a jigsaw puzzle.

“The board have told me I need two strikers. I’d like one little and one large. Most strikers will be holding on for a move to the Championship so transfers in might be late in the window.

“Will Grigg is a poacher but he won’t be available. Why would Wigan let him go to a rival?

“I’d like to give Joe Aribo, Karlan Ahearne-Grant and Dillon Phillips the chance to go out on loan and get some games.

“We looked at Eddie Nketiah between the windows this year. Then he scored those two goals against Norwich.

“British-based players are scouted by Steve Gallen. If a foreign player comes on the radar I’ll consult with the regime in Belgium. This is my team. I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t.”
