Charlton duo Ben Reeves and Mark Marshall are nearing a return to first-team action.

Marshall picked up a knee injury during pre-season and Reeves is still building up his fitness after being without a club for most of the summer.

The summer signings are experienced performers in League One, and will significantly strengthen a Charlton side that has suffered back-to-back defeats.

Reeves has only featured in cup games for the Addicks, while Marshall is yet to make his debut for the club.

Charlton manager Karl Robinson said: “Ben Reeves is running again today. Putting him in a competitive game at the start of the season was stupid. I’ve got to take responsibility for that. He’ll drop into some games now, maybe an Under-23s game, same with Mark Marshall.

“By the time we come into October, I’d like to think Marshy wouldn't be too far behind Reevesy either.

“I’m sure Reevesy will play a part in some of the three games coming up.

“Marshy should be training tomorrow with the first-team, or maybe at the latest, Monday. When I say training, it will be modified.

“He’ll join the warm-up in the first stages, we have four stages. We build our training sessions around four fundamental parts of what we need to do.

“There will be a full completion of training and then there will be stages of how many days he completes four stages of training. Then there will be minutes in one or two games and he’ll be ready to go.”
