Charlton boss Karl Robinson insists Ricky Holmes is not for sale amid renewed interest from Sheffield United.

The Championship club tried to sign Holmes in the summer, before the winger signed a new three-year deal with the Addicks.

A newspaper report claimed the Blades could make a fresh bid for Holmes in January after watching the 30-year-old in Charlton’s 2-0 win over Rotherham last month.

But Robinson says his star man is going nowhere.

He told News Shopper: “No, I don't think they [Sheffield United] will [come in for Holmes]. He’s not for sale. The club have said he is not for sale. It’s as simple as that.

“We got well over the odds, I think, of what we were offered and we still said no - that’s the way it’s got to be if we’re going to be successful.

“You can’t stop an Ezri Konsa or an Ademola Lookman [from leaving] because sometimes they're destined for Premier League games - it’s a different one. So there are certain players here who just aren't for sale.

“Ricky Holmes is simply not for sale - or Tariqe Fosu or Josh Magennis or Billy Clarke or Jake Forster-Caskey or Ahemd Kashi and the back four - none of them are for sale in January. In fact, we need to buy players in January.”

Holmes has started the new season in excellent form, scoring or assisting five of Charlton’s 11 league goals.

The Addicks are third in League One after winning four of their opening five games.
