Jamie Carragher expects Mamadou Sakho to join Crystal Palace before the transfer window closes tonight.

The Eagles have been chasing the Liverpool defender throughout the summer following his successful loan spell at Selhurst Park last season.

The Reds rejected Palace’s £25m bid for Sakho earlier this week, with the club holding out for £30m.

But ex-Reds star Carragher believes the two clubs will agree on a deal to bring Sakho back to SE25 on a permanent basis.

He said: “I think he’ll go. There are a number of clubs interested in the Premier League.

“Crystal Palace have a different manager [Frank de Boer] and that might be a problem going forward because I’m not sure how much he knows about him and the club still look like they want to bring Sakho in.

“But it’s understandable because he was so good for them last season in staying up with Sam Allardyce.

“I’d expect him to go there, I think they're arguing over a fee now and eventually they'll get there.

“Liverpool don't want the player, Crystal Palace want him so I’m sure there will be a deal done eventually.”
