Jake Forster-Caskey says it is going to be tough for Charlton’s League One rivals to take points off them at the Valley.

The Addicks have won their first two home games of the 2017/18 campaign, seeing off Bristol Rovers and Northampton.

Charlton only lost two games in SE7 in their League One winning season in 2012.

Addicks midfielder Forster-Caskey, who scored twice in the 4-1 win over Northampton on Saturday, said: “You do need to win your home games and pick up points away from home.

“But we’re going to make this place tough to come and take any sort of points off us. Obviously Northampton are a good side and we scored four goals against them so we’re doing something right.

“It does make it extra special to do it at the Valley. The fans have been brilliant - they travel up and down the country.

“Especially here, everyone in the changing room would say it feels like home because we perform really well in front of them.

“When they are behind you, you can just run that little bit more. Hopefully they can keep supporting us and we can do well for them.”

Forster-Caskey and Ahmed Kashi have started every league game under Karl Robinson in his preferred 4-2-3-1 formation this season.

Kashi’s deep-lying midfield role has allowed Forster-Caskey to bomb forward.

And the former Brighton man is happy with the partnership he is forming with the Algeria midfielder, who has been plagued by serious achilles injuries since joining Charlton in 2015.

Forster-Caskey, 23, said: “Everyone knows his quality. When I came back in the summer, everybody was saying how good he was and I think we’re playing quite well together.

“It’s still quite new - we didn't play loads in pre-season but I feel we’re getting a bit of a partnership now.

“There’s not much more I can say about him - everyone can see his ability to win the ball back and his technique.

“It’s just brilliant. So, hopefully we can keep him fit because he’s been vital in these first few games.”
