Shaun Williams says Millwall must stick together following their slow start.

The Championship new boys have taken just one point from a possible nine, losing to Nottingham Forest and Ipswich, and drawing with Bolton.

Millwall have been punished for not taking their chances in all three games, and gifted Ipswich four goals on Tuesday.

Williams, 30, wants the Lions to move on – and bounce back against Bristol City on Saturday.

The midfielder said: “There’s no point dwelling on it. We can’t go back and change the score now. We just have to look to Saturday and try to get it right.

“It’s hard to say how we ensure our confidence doesn’t drop.

“We have to stick together, keep working hard and fight for each other like we do every week.”

Tom Elliott’s 80th-minute equaliser looked to be enough to earn the Lions a point against Ipswich.

But Jordan Spence’s late winner inflicted a painful 4-3 defeat on Millwall.

Williams, who was making his 150th start for the Lions, gave the ball away for the first goal.

He added: “We were just punished by a clinical side and that’s what happens in the Championship.

“If you step up a level in the Championship, and you make a mistake, you get punished, whereas in League One, you get away with it a couple of times before they score.

“That’s why teams are paying millions for strikers and they’re getting their goals.

“We made a lot of sloppy errors and got punished from those errors. On the bright side, we scored three goals against a team that’s unbeaten so far. But at the end of the day, we’ve come away with no points again. So, it’s really frustrating.”
