Karlan Ahearne-Grant wants to score the goals to fire Charlton to promotion this season.

The 19-year-old striker has been a prominent member of Karl Robinson’s pre-season teams, and his performances have impressed the Addicks boss.

Ahearne-Grant is ready to repay Robinson’s faith by making his mark in the 2017/18 campaign.

He told News Shopper: “I want to help the team to promotion, get some goals and assists and just be a threat every time I play. I want to make something happen and get the crowd off their seats.

“If I can play and get about 10 to 15 goals, I’ll be happy.”

Ahearne-Grant broke into Charlton’s first-team as a 17-year-old in 2014. He showed glimpses of real promise, but has struggled for playing time since making his debut against Norwich.

He has started 10 league games in just under three years, and was loaned out to League Two side Cambridge last year.

But Ahearne-Grant holds no regrets over his previous first-team spell - and is now desperate to prove himself to Robinson and the Valley faithful.

He added: “I was young and people say ‘was it too early or was it not?’ But everything is a learning curve. So I came into the team at 17, came back out and now I’m pushing back in. I’m trying to push and stay in.

“I’m glad that [first-team experience] happened because I’ve learned and feel more confident from it.

“I didn't really want to go on loan this season, I obviously want to play games and Charlton is the perfect place.

“I want to prove to everybody, to the manager and fans that I can play and that gives me a proper incentive and makes me want to push on.”
