Millwall boss Neil Harris is upbeat about keeping Fred Onyedinma at the club.

The 20-year-old winger made 54 appearances for Millwall last season, but lost his place in the team towards the latter stages of the campaign.

Onyedinma is out of contract this summer, and a Lions exit looked likely with Watford and Championship duo QPR and Hull circling.

However, Harris is now confident of keeping the youngster, he said: “At one point, it looked as though we may lose Fred.

“But now it looks as though we may be able to keep him.

“That's what we want. He is a talented boy with a very bright future - we want that to be at this club. We want to continue working with him.”

Onyedinma broke into the Millwall first-team when he was just 17 years old in January 2014.

Last month, the Lions academy graduate revealed he had made a decision on his Den future.

Onyedinma said: “I can’t really say anything, but I’ve made a decision. That’s all I can say.”
