Aiden O’Brien says Millwall boss Neil Harris “is going places” after winning promotion in just his second full managerial season.

Steve Morison’s 85th-minute Wembley winner ended Millwall’s two-year exile from the Championship.

O’Brien, 23, is no stranger to England’s second tier - the Islington-born forward scored twice in Millwall’s relegation run-in.

Since then, the striker has netted 28 goals in two seasons, and has hailed Harris for aiding his development.

O’Brien, who played 70 minutes of the Lions’ play-off final win on Saturday, said: “Other than Ian Holloway, who played me on my birthday, he [Harris] started my career.

“The gaffer pulled me to one side and said ‘I believe in you’. He sent me out at Brentford, I scored my first goal and I haven't stopped scoring since.

“So credit goes to Neil Harris. He’s a top manager and he’s going to go places.”

Millwall won 18 games and finished ninth in their last return to the Championship in the 2010/11 campaign.

And O’Brien is challenging the Lions to win every league game next season.

He added: “When we all come back in pre-season, whether the gaffer brings in new players or keeps the same ones, our aim is the same.

“We will go and try to win every game. I wanted to get back into the Championship.

“It’s a much better league, the quality is much better and it’s going to test us as players. It’s going to bring out the best in us and we can’t wait to get going.”
