Following their cup victory over Dartford on Tuesday, Welling were back in knock-out action with a visit to Concord Rangers in the F.A. Trophy.

Having won 5-0 there in the league in September, Welling came out strongly and had the better of the early exchanges.

Pierre Joseph-Dubois had the first shooting opportunity from a half cleared corner but shot high and wide.

Plenty more possession failed to result in clear cut chances until Matt Fish crossed to the near post. Adam Coombes met it with a firm header towards the top corner but Bailey Vose made a fantastic save tipping over.

On the break, Joao Carlos got clear for Concord but Harry Girling came out quickly and claimed bravely at the striker's feet.

Dangerous deliveries from a string of Sam Hatton corners troubled the Beachboys defence but Vose stayed strong and made decisive punches out

Dan Walker, who had returned from injury against Dartford, only lasted just over 40 minutes before limping off and being replaced by George Oakley.

Audrius Laucys tried an ambitious long range effort just before the break but launched miles over.

Danny Waldren was brought down 25 yards out early in the second period but Coombes struck the free kick well over.

Waldren then had a shot of his own that Oakley could not avoid and blocked with his arm.

Jordan Brown created the next opportunity with an excellent cross that Coombes headed back but Vose was out just ahead of Crawford to claim.

Rod Girdlestone got away down the right wing and crossed but Fish got across to make a brave header away.

Crawford had a shot for Welling but Vose continued his impressive debut with a good diving save.

Sam Collins, the Concord captain, could only laugh as Crawford completed a double nutmeg

He then created a chance for Coombes, but Welling's leading scorer spun and shot narrowly wide.

Just as it appeared that a replay was going to be needed to decide the outcome, Oakley fired a shot from outside the penalty area that took a slight deflection before finding the bottom corner of the net.

That proved to be sufficient to take Welling into the first round in which they will hope for a home tie when the draw is made on Monday.
