Three defeats in eight days have left Welling United in serious strife at the wrong end of the league table.

Much changed Wings brought in three players on loan for their game at promotion chasing Hampton and Richmond Borough .

Millwall duo Harry Girling, in goal in place of the injured Chris Lewington, and centre back Rian Bray were joined by AFC Wimbledon striker George Oakley.

Brendan Kiernan was first to have a look at goal with a shot from the edge of the area that was blocked beaten out by Girling.

Josh Casey then tried his luck but his connection was so bad that it rolled off for a goal kick.

Casey was not put off, however, and tried his luck again with a shot that skewed high and wide.

Having returned from England C duty, Jamal Lowe led the next attack but his confidence was so high that he tried to go alone when he could have set up Jack Taylor. Eventually, it came back to Taylor but Ali Fuseini dived into his path to make the block.

Finally, Welling created something and after Billy Bishop beat out the first effort, Danny Waldren's follow up was cleared off the line by Nathan Collier.

Oakley then worked some space outside the box but fired high and wide into the trees outside the ground shortly before the half time interval.

Neither side made changes at the break and early shooting opportunities again came from outside the penalty area. Taylor tried his luck but his deflected shot flew just the wrong side of the post.

After 56 minutes, the deadlock was broken. Christian Jolley did well to get a low cross in but the defence might have dealt with it better and it came out to Nicke Kabamba who tapped in from close range.

Debutant Oakley then created a rare Welling chance when holding up well before finding Adam Coombes with a great cross field pass. The Wings' leading scorer went for a first time lob but it drifted just wide.

Controversy surrounded the Beavers' second goal. Although a long ball was touched on by a Welling defender, Kabamba appeared to be well offside before the touch. The linesman thought otherwise and Kabamba finished with ease.

Taylor fired a shot well wide for Hampton as they continued to press.

Lowe had a shot beaten out by Girling at the near post before Kabamba fired just over when looking to complete his hat-trick.

Another break gave Lowe a chance to shoot and he made it three with a low drive that appeared to go under Girling.

Substitute Christian Nanetti tricked his way into the box and was tripped by Harold Odametey for a penalty that Coombes converted but it did not spark a Welling revival as they left bereft of ideas.

Slick pacey attacking created another clear opening for Kabamba but he fired over.

Demoralised Welling might have conceded again but Taylor's drive came back off team-mate Shaquille Hippolyte-Patrick

That proved to be the last opportunity and an insipid overall performance left Welling deep in the relegation mire.
