Gibraltar and Dartford goalkeeper Deren Ibrahim was determined to take the positives from his international debut against Belgium.

Ibrahim conceded the fastest ever goal in World Cup qualifying when Crystal Palace striker Christian Benteke converted after just eight seconds.

Palace’s club-record signing completed his hat-trick within 56 minutes as the Red Devils stormed to a 6-0 thrashing in the Algarve.

But despite the heavy defeat, Ibrahim was upbeat and told 5 Live Drive that it was a great occasion for him and his family.

The 25-year-old from Sidcup said: “To make your debut against Belgium in a World Cup qualifier is a massive achievement.

“If you’re going to make your debut, you might as well do something you’re going to remember it by.

“At the end of the day they are texting me, but I’ve played in a World Cup qualifier and it was a great occasion for me and my family.”
