Neil Harris admitted he was disappointed with the half-time boos Millwall received during today’s win over Sheffield United.

The scores were level at half-time after Stefan Scougall cancelled out Shaun Williams’ opener at the Den.

But Millwall’s pressure finally told and Steve Morison converted a late penalty to seal the narrow victory.

Harris said: “I’ve got to say I was disappointed at half-time with the reaction of some people considering we haven’t been beaten at home since February.

“We didn’t play particular well but I thought it was poor to be fair and harsh on my players.

“We know we can play slightly better but we scored a very good goal.

“I said to the new boys, ‘welcome to Millwall’. You have to embrace it and enjoy it and I think the second-half was very good.”

After a scrappy start to the fixture, Williams fired the Lions in front with a superb strike from the edge of the box.

Four minutes later Sheffield United were level as Scougall’s tame effort deflected off Tony Craig and beat stopper Jordan Archer.

Lee Gregory wasted multiple chances to restore Millwall’s advantage before limping off with another injury.

Morison then saw a strike tipped wide by Moore before Harris’ side won the decisive penalty.

A United defender blatantly handled a Shane Ferguson cross and Morison calmly slotted home the spot-kick to earn the three points.

Harris, 39, added: “I thought we were tentative first-half in everything we did. We was trying to be too secure so we didn’t get out to press the ball.

“In the second-half I thought we were excellent – I told them to be aggressive and to trust themselves. The chances we created and our energy was outstanding.”

The Lions were thumped 5-1 by Peterborough United on Tuesday evening and Harris was delighted with his team’s response.

And the Millwall boss revealed he promised the players that they would beat United today.

He said: “It was a poor night and the players let themselves down.

“I promised a reaction and I promised the players that we would win this game because I know my players and they have that ability.

“It was disappointing but we came in over the following days to learn, and we did.”
