Yannick Bolasie is a player Crystal Palace rely on and must be replaced with a quality alternative should he complete a move to Premier League rivals Everton, says Scott Dann.

Palace winger Bolasie has travelled to Merseyside to undergo a medical ahead of a reported move in the region of £30million.

Dann made his first Premier League appearance as the club’s official captain in the 1-0 loss to West Bromwich Albion on Saturday, while Bolasie was left on the bench until late on in the campaign opener.

Despite a striker being the club’s number one target in the transfer window, Dann stressed Bolasie’s influence on the club and admitted a worthy replacement must be found if he is to leave.

“He’s obviously a top player and someone who we’ve counted on numerous times,” said Dann.

“When he’s been here he’s been a really big player for this club. He’s exciting and powerful.

“Whether he stays or whether he goes, that’s not down to us. I’m sure if he does he’ll do well wherever he goes, and if he stays I’m sure he’ll do just as good a job as he has in the past.

“That’s the manner of football in which all players leave whether you like it or not and you just have to replace them.”

The substantial fee Palace would receive for Bolasie, who scored five goals in 26 Premier League appearances last season, would provide further financial muscle in their bid to lure a top striker to Selhurst Park.

While Dann insisted keeping the club’s stars is a priority, the 29-year-old defender accepted that the money on offer is sometimes too good to refuse.

“Every football club wants to keep their best players, sometimes depending on the money that gets branded about sometimes you can’t help that,” Dann added.

“Sometimes players move on, sometimes you’re the club who is spending the money to get the player.

“It’s swings and roundabouts and it’s one that, if Yannick were to leave we’d have to replace him with a quality player and if he stays I’m sure he’ll do what he’s always done.”
