Neil Harris says it will be a privilege to lead Millwall out at Wembley after the Lions reached the League One play-off final.

A 1-1 draw was sufficient to secure Millwall’s passage to the final after they beat the Bantams 3-1 at Valley Parade in the first tie.

Jamie Proctor cancelled out Lee Gregory’s opener at the Den but the Lions held firm to move one step closer to promotion.

Harris said it was an honour to be able to take Millwall to Wembley.

He said: “It will be a privilege and an honour, of course it will be. But the biggest privilege is to manage these players.

“I‘m proud of my players. In two legs against Bradford, we always knew it would be challenging and tough.

“The adversity and character shown from my players at times was fantastic. We stayed solid throughout and then had quality in the final third.”

The first chance fell to Ben Thompson, who was played in by Gregory but saw his shot blocked by Josh Cullen.

Nathan Clarke wasted a good opportunity on 33 minutes before Millwall took the lead through Gregory.

Strike partner Steve Morison held the ball up well, allowing Gregory to slot a shot from the edge of the box past a helpless Ben Williams.

The Bantams drew level on the stroke of half-time as Jamie Proctor reacted first to Jordan Archer’s save to smash home.

And the visitors could have been in front minutes later but Proctor dwelled in a shooting position, before Carlos Edwards made a superb block to prevent Kyel Reid a certain goal.

Both sides wasted chances after the break but the scoreline remained 1-1 as Millwall booked a final shootout with Barnsley, who defeated Walsall over two legs.

Over 16,000 fans flocked to the Den this evening and Harris praised Millwall fans for their superb support throughout the contest.

“The atmosphere was electric and hostile, it was a really top Millwall crowd,” he added.

“You want a Millwall crowd when you walk on the pitch.

“That’s why we’ve been good over the years. The fans have been part of the success.

“You saw a fanbase tonight who was delighted with the progress of this Millwall team.”
