Neil Harris called Byron Webster a “terrific young man” after the defender’s brace helped Millwall seal a League One play-off position on Saturday.

Webster rose well to head the Lions in front after only five minutes, and rounded off the win with another header in the second-half after Shane Ferguson had doubled the lead.

Harris was delighted for 29-year-old Webster, who now has six goals this season.

“We have got players with good quality deliveries and I’m delighted for Byron,” Harris, 38, said.

“We work hard on set-pieces and it’s important that our players are diligent in both boxes.

“Byron is a terrific young man who has played really well this year – he deserved his goals.”

The 3-0 victory over Oldham was Millwall’s fifth win in seven games and took the club to an impressive 78 points for the season.

The Lions have now won six straight home games and Harris believes their play-off rivals will be fully aware of the challenge they provide teams.

He added: “They [play-off rivals] will look at us and say there’s momentum at Millwall, they’re a side scoring goals.

“Six home wins won’t necessary scare people, but good Millwall teams have been built on solid home form.

“We had a slow start, teams were quite enjoying playing here, but that’s certainly not the case anymore.”
