Joel Ward believes it is not beyond Crystal Palace’s power to repeat the winning streaks of previous seasons.

In the 2013/14 and 2014/15 campaigns the Eagles put together five and four-game winning runs respectively in the final 10 games of the season to steer them clear of relegation.

And while the full-back insists they are not setting points targets, he believes a similar late surge is possible.

“We’re not looking at that,” Ward said, when asked how many points the club needs to avoid the drop.

“We’re just going to take each game at a time and it’s not out of our power to go on a four or five game run like we have in the last couple of years.”

Palace face a hugely important 15 days starting with their home game against Norwich at Selhurst Park on Saturday.

Matches against Everton, Arsenal and Manchester United follow before the FA Cup semi-final against Watford on April 24.

Despite the fixture pile-up, Ward is confident the players are dealing with the extra pressure professionally.

“They’re coming thick and fast but we’re young guys and we’re professional,” he said.

“We’re doing everything in our power to make sure we recover correctly and give ourselves the best chances we can in every game coming up.

“The most important thing is that we do the business on Saturday, and that’s what we’ll be focusing on every day with our intensity in training and in the games.”

Palace recovered from 2-1 down against West Ham on Saturday to earn a draw thanks to Dwight Gayle’s 75th minute goal.

The Eagles went ahead through Damien Delaney in the first-half before Manuel Lanzini equalised and a Dimitri Payet free-kick put the Hammers in front.

Although Ward gave away the set-piece he refused to get downbeat about Payet’s goal, despite believing the referee backtracked on his decision.

“It’s one of them decisions where I’ve stayed on my feet, I haven’t, well I haven’t seen it so I can’t comment,” he said after the game.

“I think he’s played the advantage and not actually seen the advantage through.

“He’s got that quality and he’s put it in the top corner but you can’t beat yourself up about that, you’ve just got to get on with it and go again.”

The result left Palace in 15th, three points in front of Norwich ahead of their game at the weekend.
