Crystal Palace have had a bid in the region of £16m for Algerian midfielder Yacine Brahimi rejected by Porto, reports say.
Brahimi, 25, has attracted the interest of several elite clubs after an impressive run for the Portuguese side.
Premier League giants Manchester United and Liverpool are said to be plotting moves for the attacking midfielder, who has netted six goals this season.
The Express report that Palace were very keen to secure Brahimi’s signature, with the South Londoners willing to fork out a club-record £16m to instigate the deal.
However, it is claimed that the mammoth bid has been rejected by Porto, who have placed a £44m buyout clause in the Algerian international’s contract.
Palace boss Alan Pardew hopes to strengthen his attacking options this month after his side have failed to score in five consecutive Premier League matches.
The Eagles have picked up only two points since Christmas although their early burst of form has ensured they remain in the top half of the table.
