Liverpool have joined Crystal Palace in the race to sign Queens Park Rangers goalkeeper Rob Green, reports say.

Green, who has been at Loftus Road since 2012 following successful spells at West Ham and Norwich, has missed QPR’s last three games with illness.

The ex-England stopper has been strongly linked with a move away from west London this January, with Premier League clubs Bournemouth and Palace said to be weighing up an offer.

However, according to the Evening Standard, Liverpool are also interested in the 35-year-old, who made his professional debut back in 1999.

It is claimed that Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is hoping to bring in another goalkeeper to provide first choice stopper Simon Mignolet with some healthy competition.

The Eagles are reportedly keen for the switch to go ahead, and are even prepared to let Alex McCarthy go in the opposite direction as part of the deal.
