Charlton goalkeeper Stephen Henderson has urged supporters to continue backing the team as they look to put an end to their dismal run of form and climb up the table.

Since securing back-to-back victories in November, the Addicks have only earned three points in seven games – despite playing four clubs in the bottom half of the Championship.

Monday’s 2-0 defeat at the hands of Wolves ensured Karel Fraeye’s team remain two points from safety and in dire trouble.

Speaking after the loss, Henderson said: “I would like to send a message to the fans, just to thank them again for their support.

“Stick with us, because they know that people are putting all the effort in. We appreciate the help every week and we’re going to keep working hard to sort this out together.”

The Irish goalkeeper, 27, believes Wolves’ two goals – a tap in after a fine save and a Harry Lennon own goal – was symptomatic of Charlton’s run of luck.

“I’ve been saying it every time I speak to you. That’s the way it’s going for us,” he said.

“I made a save, you get up and I’m buzzing, then it falls to him [Jordan Graham] and he scores.

“The second one, I get my hand to it but it trickles in.

“It’s really frustrating but I’m getting stronger each week. I feel that, personally, I’m getting back to the way I want to be playing.

“Young Harry [Lennon], who has done excellent and is getting better every game, was up against an experienced striker [Benik Afobe] who rolled him and unfortunately I couldn’t get him out of jail this time.

“But he’s been excellent since he’s come in.”
