Crystal Palace’s Scott Dann is the best performing defender in the Premier League this season, according to EA Sports’ Player Performance Index.

The 28-year-old centre back has been in superb form for high-flying Palace and his consistent performances have put him contention for an England call-up.

Ahead of Arsenal’s crucial win against Manchester City on Monday night, Frenchman Thierry Henry labelled Laurent Koscielny as the best centre back in the top flight.

However, EA Sports stats show that Dann is leading the way in terms of defensive players in this season’s campaign.

The former Blackburn star, who has featured in all but one of the Eagles’ fixtures this season, has won 15 tackles this term and produced 19 blocks, while only conceding five fouls.

Bournemouth’s Simon Francis and Liverpool’s Martin Skrtel complete the top five with 219 and 213 respectively.
