Despite their poor recent form, Welling claimd a fully deserved point at promotion chasing Lincoln City.

Early on Matt Rhead headed meekly wide before Paul Farman came out well to smother as Michael Bakare tried toget on the end of a good move involving George Porter an Ricky Wellard.

Michael Chambers flicked an effort wide after a free kick for a foul on Sam Corne had invited him to go forward.

Ricky Wellard then fired over as Welling continued to enjoy more of the game.

Another feeble Rhead header from a long free kick was claimed easily by Tom King in the Welling goal.

Nortei Nortey then found Porter and he pulled it back. despite being clattered by Bradley Wood, and Corne's effort was deflected by Luke Waterfall inches wide. Quite how Wood escaped a retrospective card remains a mystery.

Corne took the corner but Bakare's near post flick header went wide of the far post.

Against the run of play, the hosts could have gone ahead when Matt Sparrow's effort was beaten out by King. Eventually it came out to Wood whose 25 yarder was claimed comfortably by King.

On the stroke of half time, Welling took a deserved lead when a break found them three on two. Porter took his time before playing in Reece Harris, and the Wings wide man finished clinically.

After a cagey start to the second period, another floaty Rhead header went over.

Michael Power then volleyed wide from outside the box as the hosts stepped up the pace.

Rhead fired over on the turn from a half cleared corner but pushing forward by the hosts gave Welling the chance to break and when Harris' shot was beaten out by Farman, fortunately for him, it flew just wide of Bakare.

Callum Howe had a header from a corner saved before Rhead had a shot that was deflected inches wide almost identically to Corne's in the first period.

Fifteen minutes remained when Lincoln equalised Muldoon fired in an effort from 25 yards. Although King got a hand to it, the power in the strike was sufficient to find the roof of the net.

King made a great save from a Rhead header but then Farman thwarted Corne with an equally fine stop.

Another brillant save by King came out to Power but he smashed over from three yards out.

Muldoon fired wide and Sparrow shot over as Lincoln looked for a late winner but it would have been hard on Welling had they gone home empty handed.
