Plymouth Argyle have banned 12 people after crowd disorder broke out following the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy clash with Millwall on November 10.

Lee Gregory scored four goals to secure the Lions’ spot in the Southern Area semi-finals with a 5-3 win, but the entertaining match was marred by incidents off the pitch following the full-time whistle.

Footage was captured showing a small minority of Plymouth fans attempting to confront their opponents’ enclosure with police and stewards struggling to control the situation.

The Plymouth Herald report that Argyle have barred 12 people indefinitely from attending any match at Home Park and are not permitted to buy any away tickets from the club.

Pitch incursions, assaults, threatening behaviour and failure to comply with instructions by police have been noted as some of the offences committed.

An Argyle spokesman was quoted as saying: "We pride ourselves on having a hard-earned reputation for being a family club and we are determined that Home Park should remain a safe and friendly environment for everyone to enjoy football.

"We will continue to work with the police to uphold this aim: anyone who causes similar problems at future matches is also likely to receive a club ban.

"Our message is simple: if people do not want to behave responsibly and with respect for others, we do not want them at Argyle."

The spokesman also commended Millwall fans for showing admirable "restraint in the face of provocation."

They added: "We wish to make it clear that none of those banned were from among the Millwall supporters, who should be commended for showing admirable restraint in the face of provocation. If they had not, the disorder could have been far worse."
