A makeshift Bromley side progressed through to the next round of the Kent Senior Cup, with a 2-0 victory over League rivals Dover Athletic at the Crabble Ground on Tuesday evening.

In an entertaining game, both sides included a number of fringe players together with members of their respective Academy sides.

Bromley had the better of the first half chances and should have been a couple of goals to the good at half time.

Academy star Jordan Higgs missed a good opportunity in the 3rd minute when he shot straight at the goalkeeper, from Pierre Joseph-Dubois’s cross before Dover’s goalkeeper denied Joseph-Dubois moments later.

Lee Minshull nearly caught the goalkeeper off his line after the custodian had punched clear Brendan Kiernan’s penetrating cross.

The home side responded with Duane Ofori-Acheampong going close, and Naby Diallo being denied by Chris Kettings.

Bromley finished the half strongly with Kiernan hooking a volley narrowly over the bar, and Goldberg dragging wide of the far post.

However, two minutes before the interval, Ofori-Acheampong was presented with an open goal, following a defensive error, but the striker shot wide of goal.

Dover came more into the game following the half time break, and Alfie Paxman fired over from a central position before Kettings tipped over Tom Carlton’s effort.

The visitors opened the scoring on 64 minutes when Goldberg cut in from the left to place a low shot into the far corner.

Kettings kept his side in the lead on 77 minutes when he tipped over Diallo’s shot, following a miskick by Sean Francis in front of goal.

Bromley clinched the tie deep into added time when Reece Prestedge played a through ball to Joseph-Dubois, who ran on to hold off his defender to slot past the advancing goalkeeper and into the net to set up an away tie in the next round against the winners of the Whitstable Town/Sittingbourne tie.

Team: Kettings, Rodgers (Stanic-Stewart, 20), Tumwa, Prestedge, Udoji, Francis (O’Leary, 88), Joseph-Dubois, Higgs, Minshull (Fejzi, 46), Goldberg, Kiernan, SUB (not used): Ogbo, (only 4 subs named)
