Away game woes continued for Welling United as two second half Woking goals condemned to another defeat.

Loui Fazakerley made two changes to the starting line up bringing back Harry Osborne for Zac Fagan and Ricky Wellard replaced Afolabi Obafemi.

Reverting back to 4-4-2, Xavier Vidal partnered George Porter, Wellard started wide right with Harris on the left.

Wellard had the first opportunity at the end of a good Welling passing move, but he sliced his effort well wide.

George Porter then fired high over the bar after collecting a weak Woking clearance.

John Goddard then missed a good chance for Woking when Bruno Andrade found space down the left wing and crossed, but the stretching Cards' striker could not get a clean strike and toe-poked wide.

Porter again found room and his shot ricocheted off Harris and could have gone anywhere. Fortunately for Woking it flew wide of the wrong footed Jake Cole's near post.

Goddard broke for Woking, but with no support, took on the shot himself, but failed to hit the target.

Harris then crossed just out of the reach of Porter and Wellard as Welling picked up the pace.

Sam Corne and Wellard both had shots blocked and Harris had a skimmer saved as Welling enjoyed the lion's share of the territory.

However, they almost came unstuck on the break when Andrade collected a deep cross and pulled it back for Goddard but his first time shot was well saved by Wing's custodian Tom King.

Another Harris cross caused problems, deceiving Jake Cole and coming back off the crossbar.

King then kept the scores level with a stunning save from Kieran Murtagh's 20 yard volley that was arrowing into the top corner.

Porter was flattened by a shocking challenge by Terrell Thomas but referee Adam Bromley failed to even give a free kick. He was not so lenient moments later when booking Goddard for pulling back Corne as he looked to break clear.

Both teams came close in injury time. King struggled to push over a Murtagh effort before Vidal took advantage of a defensive mix-up with a shot that was brilliantly saved by Cole at the cost of a corner.

Neither managers made changes at the break and Welling continued to play some attractive football. They were given a warning, however, when a misplaced pass found Goddard and he sent Andrade away, but after twisting and turning he fired his shot well wide.

Vidal tested Cole again with another long shot that was kept out by a full length dive at the expense of another corner.

Dan Holman then tested King and Andrade had a shot saved as the game became more stretched.

Finally, the deadlock was broken with a Woking goal, frustratingly from a Welling corner. A quick break, with centre-backs Michael Chambers and Kevin Lokko stranded, allowed Andrade to get away and he fired over a deep cross for an unmarked Goddard to head home.

Holman's corner was then headed wide as Welling struggled to get back into the game.

Substitute Jimmy Keohane marked his debut with a superb solo goal less than five minutes after coming off the bench.

Vidal fired fractionally wide from a free kick then Porter headed over from a Harry Lee corner as Welling continued to show fight.

Once again, Cole had to be alert to save from a Porter first time flick at close range.

There was to be no denying the hosts and it took an injury time goal line clearance from Michael Chambers to avoid a heavier defeat.

Welling United: King, Osborne, Jefford, Corne, Chambers, Lokko, Harris, Lee (Obafemi 81), Vidal, Porter, Wellard (Awotwi 72). Unused substitutes: McEntegart, Fagan, Adeyinka.
