Charlton look set to step up their interest in Wolves winger James Henry as the transfer deadline approaches.

The Addicks have been in the hunt for Henry all summer but the prospects of a deal were thrown into doubt when Molineux chief Kenny Jackett publicly stated the ex-Millwall player remained a big part of his plans.

Henry started all of Wolves’ first three Championship fixtures but came on as a sub in Saturday’s 2-0 defeat at Cardiff.

Charlton’s interest in the player remains strong and News Shopper understands the club are eager to get the move completed, although it isn’t clear yet whether it will happen before the two sides meet this weekend at Molineux.

Meanwhile, former Arsenal and Liverpool star Jermaine Pennant is currently on trial at Sparrows Lane, with Guy Luzon set to have the final say on whether to offer the 32-year-old a deal.
