Beckenham claimed top spot in the Kent Cricket League Premier Division after Saturday’s winning draw at Blackheath.

The visitors were in determined mood from the word go, with Chris Isles (72) the first of their batsmen to depart on 108-1.

Fellow opener Alex Senn (110) was the mainstay of the away side’s innings, finally being stumped by Duncan Willetts with the score at 261-5.

He was to be the fifth and final scalp of Blackheath’s bowlers, as Oliver Howick (22no) and Johan Malcolm (7no) ensured Beckenham set a 300-5 target from the allotted 55 overs.

Tanweer Sikandar (83) did his best to keep the hosts competitive, but by the time he was caught by Oliver Howick a home success looked unlikely at 162-6.

That tally eventually rose to 193-9, a long way short of what was required as Becks went top of the table.

Previous leaders Hartley (149) drop down to second following a shock 54-run home defeat at the hands of Lordswood ( 203-9).

Mitchell Claydon took 3-56 and then posted 46 runs, but sadly none of his Hartley team-mates could match those efforts.

George Wells (76) ensured Bexley (189) eased to a 75-run triumph on the road at Tunbridge Wells (114).

It took just 33 overs to dismiss the hosts, thanks largely to the bowling skills of Jasdev Bassan (4-30) and Michael Stevenson (4-35).

Bromley (209) did little to dispel their relegation fears in a 71-run reverse at home to Sevenoaks Vine (280-6), a loss which leaves them one place above the drop zone.
