FOOTBALL: Tickets for Welling United’s annual pre-season friendly with Charlton went on sale this week.

The Wings will once again be offering a special discounted rate to those who buy their tickets in advance of the game and fans of both clubs can benefit.

If you purchase your tickets before 5pm on July 10 the following admission prices apply: £13 for adults, £8 for concessions (over-60s and U18s) and £3 for U12s with an additional £2 charge for all seats.

However, to buy on the day of the game you will pay: £15 for adults, £9 for concessions (over-60s and U18s) and £3 for U12s. The extra £2 charge for seats still applies.

Anyone wishing to purchase a discounted age group ticket will need to bring ID.

Tickets will be on sale Mondays to Fridays from 9.30am to 5pm and on Saturdays between 10am and midday.

Welling’s remaining confirmed pre-season games are as follows: July 15 Erith Town away (7.45pm), July 18 Ebbsfleet United home (3pm), July 21 Maidstone United away (7.45pm), July 25 Sutton United away (3pm) and July 31 West Ham United XI home (7.45pm).

TABLE TENNIS: Orpington’s James Smith, 14, recovered a two set deficit to win the final of the U11 to U14 national doubles 3-2 alongside partner Shayan Siraj.

In the singles, Smith was again top seed but was defeated 3-2 in five sets in the semi-finals by Ethan Walsh.

The youngster said: “Even though I lost to Ethan, I still played well. He just played better.

“I’m happy Shayan and I won the doubles and happy to retain the title.”

SWIMMING: Bexley’s young male swimmers battled to a bronze at the London Youth Games ParaGames swimming contest at Beckenham Spa.

The borough’s team shared bronze with Sutton, as Croydon took gold and Greenwich silver.

Bexley coach Nick Mcpherson said: “We’re really proud of all the kids and all their efforts and hopefully we can come back and go one better next year.

“Success was due to good coaching from the team managers.

“They all knew that they were here to get points as a team and they all knew just to try their best.”

FOOTBALL: Thamesmead Town FC will host a Jersey FA XI in a pre-seaon friendly at Sporting Club Thamesmead on August 1.

Mead boss Terry Spillane said: “It is an excellent game to have. It promises to be a great day for the club and I the ideal culmination of our pre-season.

“You never know, it may become an annual game.”

Spillane has been busy planning ahead for next season, signing keeper Andy Walker and winger Nathan Korangten.

ROWING: Greenwich enjoyed silver medal success at the London Youth Games regatta on Saturday.

Team manager Peter Smith was buoyant about the borough’s success.

He said: “It's great, I think it's wonderful for all these young people. It has been a really wonderful day.

“We have a good team and at their stage at the age group where they can come back next year, so we'll certainly be competing for the gold medal next year.

“Last week we were at Peterborough where we picked up 14 medals over the two-day regatta. We’re a very pro-active club.”

TRAMPOLINING: Bromley won silver in the London Youth Games trampolining contest at Harrow Leisure Centre on Sunday, going one better than last year’s third-place finish.

The 2012 winners took a team of four who performed routines which included back landings, straddle jumps and somersaults.

Bromley team manager Robert Rowbotham said: “I’meally pleased for the team, they trained really hard and they have a whole range of abilities and it’s been a really good competition today.

“We came second as a team, continuing the success we’ve had for years and years which is down to their hard work.”

FOOTGOLF: Kent's number one  footgolfer Karl May made it two competition wins in a row at Orpington Golf Centre on Saturday after posting a superlative score of 57 (five under-par).

KAYAKING: Bexley collected four medals and a cup for the quickest slalom time of the day at Saturday’s annual London Youth Games finals.

Kim Hollman, 15, a pupil at Erith School, won silver in the senior boys’ sprint race, as did 16-year-old George Grover in the senior boys’ slalom.

Grover also won a cup after delivering the fastest time of the day in the heats.

Blackfen School for Girls student Tia Morris, 12, secured a pair of bronze medals in the junior female slalom and the junior female lightning sprint race.

All three medal winners (above) are members of the Danson-based Meridian Canoe Club.

Team leader Malcolm Blowers said: “A fantastic day was had by all and the other children who raced also did well in making sure the team came joint fifth overall on the day, which is a fabulous achievement.

“They are all very proud to represent Bexley in their sport.”

CYCLING: A new cycling club has been launched in Beckenham and is on the lookout for members.

Foxgrove Cycling Club ​is based at Beckenham Cricket Club, Foxgrove Road, and aims​ ​to provide a social and enjoyable environment to encourage cycling in the community.​

New members are welcome to join them on Tuesday evenings at 7pm to join​ ​in the​​ ride​s, which are for mixed abilities over varying distances​.
