With no less than four weeks until the close of the Premier League season, the Crystal Palace players have seemingly packed their bags for their obligatory holidays in Vegas and Dubai judging by the previous two performances against West Brom and Hull.

We have been spoilt for entertainment in the previous four seasons and this campaign has been no exception. The past two performances have threatened to leave a bittersweet taste in the mouths of the Selhurst Park faithful after two home displays that brought back haunting memories of Neil Warnock’s second time at the club. Despite the squad having excelled this season having all but secured Premier League status in mid-April, it wouldn’t be unfair of the fans to demand more.

We had an ideal chance to surpass the feat achieved by Tony Pulis in terms of league position and points recorded in two home matches against West Brom and Hull City, but never failed to show any real fight for the games. Perhaps this is something we aren’t used to as supporters, as now it is us who have nothing vital to play for against an opponents who are still scrapping for their lives.

Needless to say, there is still a great chance we can climb back above 11th and the 45 point mark in our four remaining fixtures. Palace have always had a knack of rising to the challenge against the so-called ‘big boys’ and the squad will certainly not be intimidated by the next three games; Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool.

Since promotion back to the Premier league in 2013, Palace have become the nation’s notorious party-poopers. We dismantled Chelsea’s and Liverpool’s Premier League push last campaign and all but ended Manchester City’s dream this season. With Chelsea able to claim the Premier League title for the third time on Sunday, Alan Pardew will set up the team to make sure the travelling supporters at Stamford Bridge will have got full value for their £55 ticket.

The players can almost be forgiven for packing their bags for the summer thanks to a glorious campaign, but it is important that we don’t go out on a whim and we have a great chance to resurrect the carnival atmosphere. There is no better way to do that than to crash yet another party whether it be Chelsea’s title celebrations, United’s Champions League pursuit or Steven Gerrard’s Anfield send off.

Chelsea’s Premier League title is inevitable but it would be fantastic to put their champagne on ice for another week and Palace will go into the game with great confidence having scored past their sturdy back-line in each of the previous four meetings.
