Almost three thousand fans were at Hayes Lane on Saturday to see Bromley crowned Conference South champions.

A comfortable 3-0 win over Weston-super-Mare wrapped up the club’s first title in 54 years and means they will play Conference football next season, just one step below the Football League.

Inevitably with so much at stake, the Weston game was always going to be a nervy affair and so it proved in the opening stages.

Anthony Cook’s cross shot flew wildly over the bar; while Bradley Ash’s effort produced a routine save from Bromley keeper Alan Julian.

Jamie Slabber was unlucky to see his well-placed header came crashing back off the bar following good work by Ali Fuseini, Reece Prestedge and Joe Anderson’s pin-point cross.

However, from the clearance Joe McLennan wastefully shot wide at the other end with only Julian to beat.

The let off spurred Bromley on and they opened the scoring in the 28th minute.

Anderson’s delivery was knocked into the path of Prestedge and he fired home at the second time of asking to ease the tension among the home fans.

Bradley Goldberg saw an attempt tipped around the post by Weston keeper Luke Purnell after skipping past three defenders.

But it was party time when Moses Ademola doubled the advantage eight minutes before the break.

A flowing passing movement saw the ball played out to the winger, who caught everybody unawares by curling a cross-shot beyond the reach of Purnell and into the far corner of the net when everyone was expecting a centre.

Weston started the second period strongly and Julian did well to block at point-blank range McClennan’s well-struck shot.

Moments later the Bromley keeper was deceived by the bounce of the ball but fortunately Jack Holland cleared off the line.

The hosts confirmed their title with a third goal just before the hour.

Ademola’s shot was punched clear only as far as Goldberg, who slipped a pass to the unmarked Slabber to convert into an open goal.

Slabber was denied another by Purnell, while Goldberg and substitute Pierre Joseph-Dubois were both off target in the closing stages.

The final whistle was greeted with joyous scenes of celebration before the trophy was presented on the pitch.

Champions Bromley end their campaign on Saturday with an away trip to Gosport Borough (3pm).
