Addicks keeper Dimitar Mitov could be on his way to securing a place in the Guinness Book of Records after scoring a spectacular goal in last week’s 2-1 win for the U18s at Coventry City.
The stunning clearnce from inside his own six-yard box travelled the full length of the field before bouncing over his Sky Blues opposite number.
Charlton believe that at 95m this makes it the longest ever recorded goal in football history, beating the 91.9m effort by Stoke’s Asmir Begovic’s in 2013.
And the Addicks have submitted the above video to the Guinness Book of Records to find out if the 18-year-old’s strike is officially a record breaker, something which might take up to three months to confirm.
