There was a dramatic finish as both sides scored in stoppage time of Bromley’s 1-1 draw at Hemel Hempstead Town on Saturday.

The Lillywhites thought they had claimed all three points when Jamie Slabber put the leaders ahead in the 92nd minute.

But straight from the kick off substitute Luke Allen rescued a share of the spoils for the hosts to ensure Bromley returned home from their first ever visit to Vauxhall Road on Saturday with a point.

It was a largely poor performance, but fortunately results elsewhere went their way and the Hayes Lane club still remain in pole position in the Conference South table.

On a poor bumpy pitch, the home side started strongly, pushing back Bromley for long periods and creating two early chances.

Matty Harriott fired wide as he came in on goal from the left, while captain Jordan Parkes scraped the crossbar with a free-kick from the edge of the area.

Hemel always looked dangerous in their attacks against a somewhat jittery defence, and Ed Asafu-Adjaye was unlucky when his snapshot went just wide of the far upright with Bromley keeper Alan Julian rooted to his spot.

The visitors’ first attack saw Slabber do well to turn his marker in the area, only to drag his shot just wide of the post before another Parke free-kick from just outside the area went narrowly over at the other end.

As the interval loomed, Bradley Goldberg was pulled back on the edge of the area and Joe Anderson’s free-kick was deflected behind.

Hemel keeper Laurie Walker made a hash of the resulting corner but Asafu-Adjaye was on hand to clear off the line as the teams went in goal-less at the break.

The home side were rather fortunate to keep all 11 players on the field at the start of the second half, as the tall Oliver Hawkins was booked for elbowing Jack Holland

He repeated the trick on Danny Waldren just 90 seconds later and received a long talking to from the referee.

Bromley improved and Waldren’s through ball put Goldberg in on goal, only for the striker to wastefully blast high and wide, before Ali Fuseini’s 40 yard strike was brilliantly turned around the post by a full-length Walker save.

But the visitors had to be aware at the back as Hawkins missed an open goal with a tame header which was easily saved by Julian.

Rob Swaine headed Moses Ademola’s corner just wide, while at the other end Harriott’s wild shot was well off target before Zane Banton’s effort was headed off the line by Anderson.

A poor defensive clearance gave a chance to Parkes but he fired over from the edge of the area.

The home side were reduced to ten men with three minutes remaining after Ed Oshodi was shown his second yellow card for upending Ademola with a crude tackle.

Following a series of Bromley corners, the visitors opened the scoring in the 92nd minute when substitute Mitchell Pinnock’s flag kick was hooked into the net from close range by Slabber for his fourth goal in the last three games.

But the celebrations were cut short immediately as straight from the kick off, and with the Bromley defence still celebrating, substitute Allen, ran onto a hopeful punt to lift the ball over a sluggish Julian and into an empty net.
