OUT-OF-FAVOUR goalkeeper Gabor Kiraly could still have a future at Selhurst Park says Peter Taylor.

The news follows the Hungarian's return to Palace after appearing on loan at Aston Villa and his first Eagles appearance since the 1-0 defeat at home to Stoke City on November 11.

The 30-year-old was re-instated at the Stadium Of Light on Tuesday night and put in an impressive performance to help the Eagles keep a clean sheet and return home from Wearside with a deserved point.

Now Taylor is challenging the former Hertha Berlin stopper to give him no choice but to leave him in the side for the rest of the season.

Taylor said: "It's up to Gabor now. He played well on Tuesday and if he continues to play well, he will stay in the team.

"It was hard for Julian (Speroni) not to get another opportunity but after his injury, he has hardly trained and with Scotty Flinders a little bit low on confidence, I thought to play Gabor was the right decision."

Kiraly is out of contract at Selhurst in the summer but Taylor admits he could still have a future in SE25 if he proves it over the remainder of the season.

He said: "Gabor, like a lot of players, will be out of contract at the end of the year and it's up to him to play the last three or four months of the season well to try and earn a new contract.

"I've always told him it's down to him to play well, get in the team and prove to me he deserves to be here next season."
