When Dartford and Welling United met six weeks earlier, the main action was in the first fifteen minutes.

This time around was very different. The first half was uneventful however there were plenty of talking points in the second period.

Early on, Danny Harris put in a teasing cross for Dartford but there was no real chance until 25 minutes had passed.

Charlie Penny, making his Welling league debut, crossed and although it was half cleared, Kieron St. Aimie sent in a fierce shot that was well saved by Jason Brown.

After 33 minutes, Dartford went ahead slightly against the run of play. Once again Harris got clear down the right and put in a brilliant cross. Although Barney Williams did well to clear, Max Cornhill followed up with a sweet shot that gave Jon Henly no chance.

At the break, Dartford made a change bringing on Harry Crawford for Andy Pugh and the substitute took just seven minutes to put the Darts two up. Ryan Hayes' measured cross was met with a firm header that again left Henly helpless.

Although Harry Beautyman had a shot deflected wide, Welling's passing football in midfield failed to create opportunities for them to get back into the game.

Brown was called into action with thirteen minutes remaining when Jamal Fyfield fizzed in a low shot that was well claimed as St. Aimie closed in.

Cornhill fired a free kick wide for Dartford then Ryan Hayes saw a shot come back off goalkeeper Jonathan Henly.

Welling were reduced to ten men when Jake Gallagher's second foul of the game earned him a second yellow card.

Despite that, Welling pulled a goal back when Malachi Hudson's directness caused havoc in the Dartford defence and Beautyman followed up with a twenty yarder.

Any chance Welling had of a grandstand finish was lost when they had a second player sent off. Lee Noble's foul on Chris Bush should have seen him booked but Bush showed a lack of discipline in stepping on the Dart giving the referee no option but to dismiss him.

Victory for the Darts leapfrogged them over the Wings and out of the relegation zone while Welling manager Jamie Day will be looking for a quick response.
