Crystal Palace boss Neil Warnock says David Moyes’ decision to take on the reins at Real Sociedad is a good move for the Scot.

The former Manchester United had been out of a job since being sacked at Old Trafford in April, but he was unveiled as Sociedad’s new boss yesterday (Monday).

Moyes needs to turnaround Sociedad’s fortunes quickly as they are wallowing at 15th in La Liga with just two wins from 11 games – but it is a task Warnock believes is right.

He said: “It’s a good move for David, he needed another challenge.

Crystal Palace boss: Gayle is too important to send out on loan

“I think he was bit let down at Manchester United, they had more points this time last season than now, and look at how much money they’ve spent.

“Someone told me the team they had on the pitch against us was £235m, and then Mata at £35m comes off the bench.”

He added: “Sociedad is what I call a bread and butter club, and it will suit David well.”
