George Tucudean believes he is adapting well to English football after playing a lead role in Charlton’s 2-1 win over Bolton last night.

The Romanian opened the scoring on 28 minutes with a neat turn and finish before setting up Johnnie Jackson to double the advantage early in the second half.

Tucudean has struggled with the physicality of the Championship since arriving in the summer, but his goal appeared to give him renewed belief against the Trotters.

He said: “Every player gets confidence once they’ve scored.

“It relaxed me and I was able to play my football more.

“I can still be better but I was pleased with my performance.

“When I have played in Romania and Belgium it is more technical and here it is physical, but it is fine.

“I have to work hard to keep going.

“This is English football. We work hard and we have to prove that we are capable, especially those that are not from England.

“We have to get used to the style.”

Tucudean celebrated his second Addicks goal by leaping over the North Stand’s advertising hoardings and embracing a number of Charlton fans, picking up a yellow card for his troubles.

He admitted: “I did not know that was a rule in England.

“I wanted to share it with the fans because they are coming out in this weather, and if I was a supporter I would stay at home at watch TV.

“They came out to support their team and we appreciate that and we dedicate the victory to them.”

Charlton were not at their fluent best last night but still managed to grind out their fifth league win of the season.

“That shows that we are good team because we didn’t lose our unbeaten home record,” said Tucudean.

“This is a good thing, especially as we’ve only lost one game this season.

“There have been games where we’ve deserved three points but only got one and been unlucky.

“If you train well and listen to the coach then we will be fine.”

The Addicks visit Craven Cottage to take on Fulham on Friday evening and Tucudean hopes they can kick-start another unbeaten run.

He said: “We’ve proved that we can go on a run before and we want to get a good result at Fulham.

“Every team is good in this league so we have to be careful of them all.

“They all have good, dangerous players.

“We have a good group and need to be a good family, outside and inside, to succeed.”
