Bromley winger Louis Dennis praised his team’s performance as they cruised past Grays Athletic 5-0 in the FA Cup last night.

The Lillywhites faced their Ryman Premier Division opponents in a third qualifying round replay following Saturday’s goal-less stalemate.

There was to be no such frustration this time round though, as goals from Reece Prestedge, Jordan Robertson, Adam Bailey-Dennis, Duncan Culley and Bromley’s man-of-the-match Dennis carved the Conference South outfit’s path through to the next round.

A late penalty save by home keeper Seb Brown topped off a successful evening amidst the pouring rain at Hayes Lane.

Dennis, who once completed a loan stint with Grays, scored the final and most spectacular goal, finding the top corner with a left-footed, curling effort beyond the reach of Conor Gough in the visitors’ goal.

The 22-year-old admitted he had impressed even himself with the fine strike.

“It wasn’t too bad,” said Dennis.

“I practice all the time shooting before a game.

“I’m always practicing whipping it top corner.

“Finally it came off in a game.”

The 5-0 scoreline may have seemed slightly unfair on a side Grays who had a few positive passages of play themselves.

But Dennis was delighted he and his team-mates ensured they stayed on top of their own game in order to see the result out.

He added: “You’ve always got to show respect to clubs like Grays, they’re never going to give up.

“The scoreline doesn’t reflect that.

“Even at 3-0 up in the FA Cup you’re never safe.

“One goal and all of a sudden you’d be on the back foot, so we had to keep our concentration, keep it tight and that’s what we did.

“It was a great performance from us.”

The Ravens will now travel to Evesham United of the Southern League Division One South & West on October 25 in the final preliminary round of the competition.

Despite being favourites, Dennis says Bromley will not be taking the tie lightly and will not expect an easy ride.

“We need to go there with the same approach that we showed today,” he explained.

“Never take anyone for granted.

“We know we have the quality, we need to turn up on the day and make sure we get the ball in motion like we did today.”

Victory in Worcestershire would secure a place in the first round proper once again for Bromley, who have faced Football League clubs Gillingham, Colchester, Leyton Orient and Fleetwood Town at the same stage in recent years.

And Dennis is determined to bring the magic of the FA Cup to Hayes Lane once again.

“I haven’t been through three qualifying rounds to get to the first round so it will be massive for me,” he said.

“It’s absolutely massive for the club. I just want to make it happen for the club.”
