Charlton’s Bob Peeters has missed out to Ipswich’s Mick McCarthy in the race for the September Championship manager of the month prize.
The SE7 boss was nominated after the Addicks maintained their unbeaten start to the campaign, ending the month with an impressive 1-0 success at Norwich City.
But this still wasn’t enough to bag the monthly gong, which instead went to one-time Millwall manager and Bromley resident McCarthy, now in charge at Portman Road.
Like Charlton, Ipswich were also undefeated in September and collected an impressive tally of 13 points from five games.
Panel judge and Sky Sports’ Football League pundit Don Goodman said: “Mick and his team were on a bit of a charge in September.
“They certainly have goals in them and it's given them a platform and the belief to mount a genuine play-off challenge.”
The other two candidates to miss out in the Championship were Middlesbrough’s Aitor Karanka and Derby’s Steve McClaren.
Bristol City’s Steve Cotterill collected the League One prize, with Southend’s Phil Brown doing likewise in League Two.
