Bob Peeters admitted Huddersfield were unlucky not to collect all three points after his Charlton side stole an injury time point in Yorkshire.

The Addicks survived numerous early scares and managed to go into the interval on level terms.

However, they were dealt the upper-hand by the referee right before the break after the Terriers’ Murray Wallace was shown a red card for pulling back Igor Vetokele who was through on goal.

Despite their numerical advantage, Peeters’ side went a goal down just after the restart as Nahki Wells converted a cross.

But the Addicks were let off the hook deep into injury time as Igor Vetokele latched onto Andre Bikey’s flick-on and finished smartly beyond Alex Smithies to rescue a share of the spoils.

“We were very lucky to get a point,” admitted the Charlton head coach.

“All credit to Huddersfield, we knew it would be very difficult to play against ten men in the second half.

“The way they defended, all credit to them. I think they deserved to win”

The Belgian head coach was critical of his team’s second half performance, which started with the concession of Wells’ close range finish.

He said: “We were not strong enough with the goal, and then you know it’s going to be very hard.

“We kept on taking the wrong decisions.

“It was the first time we were 1-0 down and you saw that we were not used to it.”

Peeters admitted he made his last throw of the dice in injury time and reverted to pumping the ball long in the hope of a chance falling to one of his players.

“At the end, I said we will put Andre Bikey as a striker because he is very strong in the air- he flicks the ball and Igor taps it in.”

When quizzed on what he was feeling when the fourth official showed five minutes of injury time, Peeters admitted that he didn’t think that would be enough.

“I said to my staff ‘I don’t think we’re ever go to score a goal today!’

“To the players’ credit, they kept on fighting and gave everything to get a result at the end.

“If you see the previous four games, you could see this was by far our worst game.

“But if you can get a point away from home, then you need to be happy.

“We were nervous second half, we were not used to playing 10-men who were defending with everything that they had.

“We didn’t pass the ball quick enough.

“I was not so happy with the way we played second half, but in the end we get a point and remain unbeaten.”
