Being odds-on favourites for relegation this year was a downer to start with so imagine the delight of not losing a game since the season started.

I know it is early days yet, but we’ve had it so rough the last two seasons with nothing to hope for that this small spell of success has lifted our spirits even higher.

Fulham was the away day to beat this season, although I find it hard to believe we will beat the atmosphere and togetherness we brought to west London for the rest of the campaign.

Mind you there is still Charlton to look forward to for that.

The team were great at Craven Cottage.

Concentrating and keeping it together in the first half, they started to slip in the second period, though, and some of Fulham’s high priced players were given a little too much room as things got dangerous for the Lions.

Luckily the whole away end was packed full of loud and passionate Millwall fans, who pulled the team through by the scruff of their necks.

Carlos Edwards was by far the best player on the pitch.

I don’t want to speak too soon to sing his praises, as normally when we’ve had a player on loan and then sign them they go downhill faster than Eddie ‘The Eagle’ Edwards.

Our very own Edwards is certainly not doing that.

I think he is fantastic - and I'll bet Mick McCarthy is kicking himself for letting him go from Ipswich.

Tuesday night at Sheffield Wednesday ended in a great fashion, too.

Going 1-0 down 17 minutes into the second half is never an easy thing to come back from, as legs and heads are starting to get tired, but the Lions played on, kept trying and it paid off - eventually.

Lee Martin was brought down in the area by the Wednesday keeper and we got a penalty.

Shaun Williams proceeded to take it in the 85th minute but missed, shooting against a post.

It looked as though we were going to lose our first game of the season until practically the last kick of the game when Ricardo Fuller laid the ball off to Magaye Gueye, who fired into the roof of the net.

The team ran over to the dug-out to celebrate with everyone showing real togetherness.

It was a well deserved draw and a fair point.

On to this Saturday and Rotherham at The Den, I wonder if life-long Millers fan Howard Webb will be there to watch them now he has retired from refereeing?

Newly-promoted teams are often very dangerous in the early part of the season, as they want to prove themselves at a higher level.

They won their first home league game (1-0 v Wolves) on Saturday, and also in the cup to Fleetwood, but have lost the other two league matches so it has been a mixed bag so far.

Let’s hope we don’t experience the sight of their manager Steve Evans nearly losing his trousers again, as we saw in the play-off final when they scored!
