Bob Peeters says he isn’t even aware who reported midfield target Alain Traore is.

Stories in France suggested the Addicks were poised to make a loan swoop for the 25-year-old Lorient midfielder a suggestion which came as something of a surprise to the Addicks boss when asked about it this lunchtime.

NS: Alain Traore has been linked with a loan move here.  Any truth in that?

BP: Who?

NS: Alain Traore.

BP: Where is he from?

NS: He’s French, he is a midfielder.

BP: I don’t know. Andy Delort I’ve heard of but (not) Traore.

Peeters continued: “With the owner there is a big network of scouts so we are always linked with players.

“But not every player we are linked with we are going to bring in.

“For me it is important that it is always between me and the owner that we have discussions about players.

“That’s one of the reasons I’m here because I know what you need to be in the Championship.

“If you can bring in players sometimes you need to sign young players because they have a big career ahead.

“Sometimes we will do that as well to invest in players but at this moment I think we’ve already proved that we brought some good players in.

“We are always looking for some good players, whether they are from abroad or in England.”

The Addicks chief was then asked about how regularly he talks with owner Roland Duchatelet, who is primarily based in Belgium.

“A lot of times, normally every second day we have a little chat about the progress,” Peeters replied.

“I think it is very important to stay in contact with each other and also with Katrien we have a lot of meetings about the squad and Charlton in general because we are also busy now working together with the academy and bringing maybe some players into the first team.

“The best example is Joe Gomez, who was in the U18s last season and is now in the squad of the first team and doing pretty well.”

Peeters also downplayed newspaper reports from earlier this week Charlton were considering signing Costa Rican international Celso Borges, who plays for AIK Stockholm.

“I think at this moment the press is more informed than me,” the Valley gaffer said.
