Bob Peeters has revealed Charlton are on the verge of signing another striker following today’s 2-0 loss at Welling.

The defeat was the Addicks’ second from their three pre-season matches and they have yet to score a goal under the Belgian.

Peeters has already brought in six new players since taking control and confirmed at Park View Road a seventh would be joining them for the tour of Spain, which starts tomorrow.

“There is another one coming in but I can’t mention his name until we sign him,” said the Addicks head coach.

“He should arrive today and will travel tomorrow and once he is here we will see what is necessary for us.

“We are still looking for one or two players but we need to start to build the team now.

“And if we are still waiting to bring in players in a few weeks time then that will affect the team shape.

“The players that are here now know what we want.”

Peeters added: “We have shown them what we want when we don’t have the ball but now we need to work on when we’re in possession.

“We will see what will happen but I am very happy that this striker will sign either today or tomorrow and will strengthen our squad.”
