Welling have wasted no time in snapping up central defender Zach Fagan following his recent release by Arsenal.
The 19-year-old has been at the Emirates for nine years but became a free agent at the end of the season after the Gunners decided not to offer him a new deal.
Fagan’s move will officially be completed on July 1.
Wings boss Jamie Day told wellingunited.com: “He is a strong defender with a good background who I have kept an eye on, especially in the last few months of last season.
“He is a good size but is also mobile and can pass and play. He’s another player that I’m excited about working with and trying to improve and develop.”
It has been a busy 24 hours for Day, who earlier this morning signed another defender aged 19, ex-Reading and Port Vale left-back Ben Jefford.
The manager explained to wellingunited.com: “He is a young left-back who has had Conference experience with Boreham Wood and Basingstoke on loan.
“We have watched him a few times and feel he will be a good addition to the team.
“He is good technically and defensively sound.
“I’m looking forward to working with him this season and developing him further.”
